Become a mentor

Ready to enhance your leadership skills? Want to positively impact emerging talent from your university in the process? BCU’s mentorship programme offers a range of benefits. Namely, you can develop real-world experience as a mentor, while providing vital guidance to a student or graduate that was once in your shoes.

What is the programme?

This programme offers you the chance to develop your skills and expertise as mentors, whilst helping to focus and shape career-ready BCU graduates.

When is it delivered?

You have the option to join one of the ten-week slots available throughout the year – from January to March, April to June and July to September.

How much will it cost?

There is no financial cost to become a mentor, but you will be required to provide some of your time (a minimum of five hours) to support your mentee.

How does the programme work?

  • You’ll begin by receiving training and guidance from our mentoring programme team to help you deliver the best possible support.

  • Next, you’ll be introduced to your mentee, either a student or a recent graduate looking to boost their skills.

  • Once the programme begins, you can both work around your schedules, delivering bite-sized guidance to emerging graduates for a minimum of five hours across a ten-week period (though spending more time together is encouraged).

  • Your support for your mentee can be shared through a series of catchups, either face to face or through our secure online platform, and they can be conveniently and flexibly arranged at times that work for you.
