Hi, I'm Danielle and I'm a student at Birmingham City University. In this video, I'm going to talk about the support that our finance team can offer students with their loan applications before and during their time at uni. So, if you are getting ready to start uni or you are going through clearing and have already applied for student finance, we are here to advise you on how you can change your application if you need to. We are going to cover some of the most common questions that crop up if your course choice of uni or entry year has changed.
So you've changed your mind and you want to do a different course or perhaps you've decided to defer entry for a year. Don't worry, this is fine and something that happens all the time. So support is in place for this. This can easily be fixed through your student loans company account on the gov.uk website. Just log in and update your year of entry or course details. It's easy to do this, but also really important that you do it as soon as possible to avoid any complication further down the line.
If your details are not all lined up correctly, then this can cause a delay in processing your application. It could even mean that your loan payments get blocked. It's essential that your loan application details match up with the details that we have. Log into your SLC account and check everything is as it should be and amend if need be. When you first complete your application, it is a good idea to take the time to make sure everything is accurate. Once you have done this, contact us at fundingbcu.ac.uk and we can pick this up with you.
So, you've changed your mind or just gone through clearing and decided to study with us. All you need to do is make sure that we know as well as Student Finance England. First of all, get in touch with Student Finance England and then inform them of the switch. Then you need to get in contact with us. We need three things from you. Full name, date of birth and your student support number. Send that through to case management system and we will then submit a transfer in request for the student loan company to move your funding over to support you here at BCU.
If you take just one thing away from this video, it would be to apply early and accurately. Don't worry if issues crop up. We are here to support you. Our finance team are always on hand to speak to and you can contact us at fundingbcu.ac.uk.
Good luck and we can't wait to see you here at BCU.
